The history and forecast for in-line tire price adjustments in 2011

When a company announces a tire price increase "of 5%," it's across the board. If the announcement says "up to 5%," you know two things: The price of every specified tire will be increased, and there will be a ceiling of 5%.

Natural rubber: Shortages will hurt the U.S. more than other countries

We've heard about "rising raw material costs" for a couple of years, now, and consumer tire prices have risen accordingly. One of those materials is natural rubber, the price of which rose more than 260% in the last two years.

It seems like a tire manufacturer is announcing a price increase every other week. The main reason is always the same: escalating raw material costs.

Getting price increases to stick is a sticky wicket for manufacturers and dealers

It seems like consumer tire price increases are being announced every other day. There have been 14 such announcements since the beginning of the year.
