Update: Dealer wins, and so does charity!
By: Lori L. Mavrigian
Let's hear it for Steve Case, vice president of Case Tire In Gastonia, N.C., who came in first place in his "Dancing for Future Stars" dance contest! The big winner was the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Gaston, which netted $20,000 from the charity event.
I first wrote about Steve earlier in this blog, see "Dealer steps it up for chairty" http://www.moderntiredealer.com/Blog/Lori-s-Listening/Story/2010/01/Tire-dealer-steps-it-up-for-charity.aspx. The event, which runs along the lines of TV's "Dancing With the Stars" contest, was held this past weekend.
Steve tells me more than 350 people attended the event, each paying $100 to see six couples cut the rug. Steve and his partner danced to "We Go Together" from the musical "Grease" (which brought thunderous applause!) and a Southern Shag -- a dance that originated in the Myrtle Beach, S.C., area.
"It was a great event," says Steve. "I'd recommend it to any gorup looking for a different way to raise money."
The city's mayor was the runner-up, and she raised the highest amount -- $9,154 -- for the charity.
Congratulations, Steve! Great job for a great cause.
