Retreaders struggle with down market

It's a tough environment for retreading, and the numbers show it. Both retread production and retread pricing are down. How are independent retreaders coping? Find out in the February issue of MTD, available now.

"The biggest thing is price-competitiveness," says Jason Stewart, vice president of Action Tire Co. in Forest Park, Ga. "There's always somebody who will do it for less right now."

"Demand was our biggest problem last year," says John McCarthy, president of McCarthy Tire Service in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
