Yokohama's 1Q sales-to-income ratio is 6.5%

Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. posted net income of 8.8 billion yen on net sales of 135.3 billion yen for the first quarter ended March 31, 2012.

Michelin sales are up based on euros only

Groupe Michelin posted net sales of 5.3 billion euros for the first quarter of its 2012 fiscal year ended March 31, 2012. That compares to sales of 5 billion euros for the same period last year.

More tire price hikes are on the way, Ludwig predicts

“Last month I wrote that due to sharply lower raw material costs during 4Q11 I would not expect to see any further tire price hikes anytime soon. Unfortunately that was a wrong call because predictability of future raw material prices is all but impossible,” says tire industry analyst Saul Ludwig in the latest installment of the "Ludwig Report" in Modern Tire Dealer magazine.

Yokohama tops net income projections by 36.7%

For the fiscal period ended Dec. 31, 2011, the Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. posted net income of 11.6 billion yen on operating income of 26.3 billion yen and net sales of 465.1 billion yen. (The company has shifted to calendar-year fiscal accounting as of 2012 from its previous April-to-March accounting. That resulted in a one-time-only nine-month fiscal accounting period, and year-on-year comparisons are therefore unavailable.)

Sales are up, profitability is down for Toyo

Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd. posted net income of 4.1 billion yen on net sales of 241.6 billion yen for the first nine months of its 2011 fiscal year. That compares to income of 5.1 billion yen on sales of 226.5 billion yen for the same period the previous year.

Cooper to raise prices up to 5%, Armes reports

Roy Armes, chairman, CEO and president of the Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., says in its third quarter, the company was able to show improvement in its margins “even with the persistent challenges of high raw material costs and sluggish demand in key markets and product lines where we have significant exposure. Our sales growth resulted in the company's first quarter with over $1 billion of sales.”
