What happened at Goodyear’s dealer meeting?

Following what appears to be a record year, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. held its 2012 Dealer Conference in Orlando, Fla., Jan. 29-31. Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich was on hand for all the new product announcements, plus some fleet HQ announcements.

Yokohama to raise consumer tire prices

Yokohama Tire Corp. announced today it will increase prices by up to 8% on all of its consumer tires sold in the U.S., which include passenger, performance and light truck tires. The increase will go into effect March 1, with some in-line adjustments announced at a later date.

Broken records: 2011 SEMA Show wrap-up  

The numbers don’t lie. The 2011 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show was a huge success. A record 132,000 people attended the event, according to the Tire Industry Association (TIA), which sponsored the show’s Global Tire Expo section. There also were 61,000 buyers, also a record and close to 19% higher than last year.

Any NASCAR fan knows. What’s the official tire of NASCAR? Goodyear. And it will remain that way at least for the next five years. In October 2011, Goodyear and NASCAR signed an extended agreement for Goodyear to continue as the exclusive tire used in NASCAR’s top three racing series for the next five years.
