Denman Tire may cease operations

Denman Tire Corp. says it may cease operations if it cannot secure financing and/or find a buyer. "If these efforts are unsuccessful, there will be no other alternative but to close all of the operations," says Richard Szekelyi, Denman's restructuring advisor.

Add two more private brand tire lines to the list of recalled size 245/70R17 SUV tires manufactured by Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. late last year. That brings the total of recalled tires to 7,769.

A 73-inch tire? It's on the way, says Titan's Taylor

Titan International Inc. says it will test its first 73.5-inch "super giant" OTR tire this spring. If the test is successful, Titan Chairman and CEO Morry Taylor says his company will put the tire in the field during the third quarter of 2010.

Brazil raises tariffs on U.S. tire exports 100%

In retaliation for the way the United States has treated its cotton exports, the Brazilian government has raised import duties on an extensive list of goods, including tires. And the World Trade Organization (WTO) has authorized the sanctions, which could total as much as $829 million.
