President sets first-year tire tariffs at 35%

Additional tariffs of 35%, 30% and 25%, respectively, have been imposed on Chinese consumer tire imports for the next three years. The 35% tariff will go into effect for 12 months beginning Sept. 26, 2009.

Toyo comes out against proposed tariffs

Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas Inc. has not taken a position on the United States International Trade Commission's (ITC's) view that consumer tire imports from China have caused a "market disruption." However, it is against additional tariffs recomended by the commission.

Coalition: 'Duties would make tires non-competitive'

An executive from a member of the American Coalition for Free Trade in Tires says the duties that the United States International Trade Commission wants to apply to certain consumer tire imports from China would make the tires "non-competitive."
