Pep Boys - Manny, Moe & Jack has entered into a definitive merger agreement under which it will be acquired by investment firm The Gores Group.

Pep Boys-Manny, Moe & Jack posted net income of $7 million on net sales of $522.2 million for its 13-week third quarter ended Oct. 29, 2011. That compares to earnings of $5.7 million on sales of $496.4 million for the same period a year ago.

Pep Boys has acquired seven service and tire stores in the Houston, Texas area. The stores were previously operated by My Mechanic, a full-service automotive repair chain in the Houston area since 1989.
