More tire price hikes are on the way, Ludwig predicts

“Last month I wrote that due to sharply lower raw material costs during 4Q11 I would not expect to see any further tire price hikes anytime soon. Unfortunately that was a wrong call because predictability of future raw material prices is all but impossible,” says tire industry analyst Saul Ludwig in the latest installment of the "Ludwig Report" in Modern Tire Dealer magazine.

Natural rubber consumption rises 7.2% in 2010

Following the rapid recovery and growth seen in 2010, global rubber consumption is forecast to reach 25.7 million tons in 2011. The forecast includes both natural rubber (NR) and synthetic rubber (SR), with NR consumption of 11.2 million tons.
