Titan International Inc. recorded adjusted net income of $40.5 million on net sales of $463.1 million for the first quarter ended March 31, 2012. That compares to income of $18.7 million on sales of $280.8 million for the same period last year.

In what it calls its "biggest manufacturing news in more than 15 years," Michelin North America Inc. will not only build a new OTR tire plant in Anderson, S.C., but also expand production at its OTR tire facility in Lexington, S.C.

Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. has announced it will construct a passenger tire plant in the state of Haryana adjacent to Delhi, India. The estimated investment in building the plant is 4.4 billion yen (approximately $53 million).

Mitas prepares to open ag plant in Iowa

Mitas Tires North America Inc. has cured the first test tire at its new Charles City, Iowa, facility. It will soon begin serial production of radial agricultural tires, according to Tomas Nemec, chairman Mitas' parent company, CGS Holding (CGS a.s.).
