Yokohama's 'Forever Forest' effort branches out

Yokohama Tire Corp. planted 2,500 more tree seedlings at its manufacturing plant in Salem, Va., bringing the facility’s total to 6,800 seedlings in Yokohama’s ongoing global “Forever Forest” program, which aims to plant more than 500,000 trees worldwide by 2017.

The Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. reports that three of its plants in Japan and China obtained JISHA (Japan Industrial Safety and Health Association) Standards Certification for Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OSHMS) in January 2012.

Yokohama will participate in four race series during 2012

American Le Mans Series (ALMS) and GT Challenge (GTC) Class. This season, Yokohama will partner with Alex Job Racing and supply tires for team Lotus-AJR in the highly competitive ALMS GT Class.

Yokohama tops net income projections by 36.7%

For the fiscal period ended Dec. 31, 2011, the Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. posted net income of 11.6 billion yen on operating income of 26.3 billion yen and net sales of 465.1 billion yen. (The company has shifted to calendar-year fiscal accounting as of 2012 from its previous April-to-March accounting. That resulted in a one-time-only nine-month fiscal accounting period, and year-on-year comparisons are therefore unavailable.)

Yokohama to raise consumer tire prices

Yokohama Tire Corp. announced today it will increase prices by up to 8% on all of its consumer tires sold in the U.S., which include passenger, performance and light truck tires. The increase will go into effect March 1, with some in-line adjustments announced at a later date.

Yokohama’s VP of sales outlines truck tire market

The commercial truck tire market rebounded strongly in 2010 according to Dan King, Yokohama senior vice president of sales and marketing, to the point that some companies faced fill rate problems as Yokohama’s business increased. He credits a strong 2010 to increased demand in 2009, when there was a reduction in inventory levels in the tire industry.
