Conti’s HSL2 gets Eco Plus compounding

Continental Tire the Americas LLC has added its Eco Plus compounding, the basis of Continental’s low rolling resistance, fuel saving medium radial truck tires, to the tire maker’s best-selling highway steer tire, the HSL2.

Michelin debuts long-life Defender passenger tire

Michelin North America Inc. has introduced a new all-season standard passenger car tire, the Defender, at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), Jan. 9-27, 2012, at Cobo Hall, Detroit, Mich. Michelin has been the official tire of NAIAS for 24 years.

Yokohama’s BluEarth is OE on the Toyota Prius

Yokohama Tire Corp. has added the new 2012 Toyota Prius v to its OE fitment program. The Prius v – a five-seat crossover – on sale now in the U.S. and Canada, features Yokohama’s eco-friendly BluEarth S34BZ tires in size P205/60R16 91V.

Yokohama’s green tire exhibit opens in Boston

Yokohama Tire Corp.’s eco-tire technology is now officially on display at the Museum of Science, Boston. The two-year exhibit showcases Yokohama’s BluEarth-1, the company’s latest orange oil-infused passenger car tire, as well as the ultra-thin AIRTEX Advanced Liner, which helps consumers cut fuel costs by keeping their tires properly inflated.

‘Truck Blue Book’ say Michelin's X One adds value

According to the latest assessment by “Truck Blue Book,” Michelin X One wide single truck tires add $1,250 to the value of a used truck as an Idle and Fuel Reduction Technology. The value-added designation is exclusive to X One tires – not for wide single tires in general.

Cooper awarded $1.5 million from the DOE

The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy has awarded Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. $1.5 million. The grant is for the development of advanced fuel efficiency technologies during the next three years.
