Continental Tire reaches podium at Super Lap finals
Douglas Wind of Windspeed Motorsports took second place in
the street class -- FWD in the Super Lap Battle finals Nov. 12 at Buttonwillow
Raceway, in Buttonwillow, Calif.
Continental Tire is a sponsor of the 2008 Super Lap Battle
Series, a time trial-based showcase of the fastest cars from U.S. Japanese and
European tuners. Continental is focusing on the Street Class with its
ContiSportContact 2 and 3 ultra-high performance tires.
"We are so proud of Steve for finishing second in this very
competitive event," said Robert Liu, technical product manager, passenger
tires. "This has been an exciting season, and to finish on the podium is
very gratifying for us. Our ContiSportContact ultra-high performance tires
can take the heat of competition and come out on top."
Aside from Wind, Team Continental includes:
Steven Rankins, Boxer4Racing: Rankins
competes in the Street AWD Class in a 2006 Subaru Impreza Sti, running on
ContiSportContact 3 tires in size 285/35/18 and 265/35ZR18. Other
modifications include a 360 whp Deadbolt Turbo 20G engine; Ohlins Flag-I
Coilovers with Whiteline Swaybars; SPT Clutch, Flywheel and Group N Engine and
Trans Mounts; Cobb Accessport ECU; and Enkei RP03 18x10.5 or Axis Reverbs
18x9.5Hawk DTC-70 wheels.

3s. Modifications include: a 240 whp GSR-B18, GT28RS turbo engine; Tein
Flex's suspension; OEM Integra Type-R transmission; AEM EMS ECU; front
-Stop-Tech ST-40s, rear-OEM ITR brakes; and Motegi Tracklite wheels.
"The entire team has done a spectacular job throughout the
entire Super Lap season, and we are proud to have them represent Continental
Tire," Liu added.
The series was presented by Super Street, Turbo
& High-Tech Performance, Modified, Eurotuner, Sport Compact Car and Import Tuner
magazines.
