B.O.B. blog asks, 'What's in a tier?'

Our tire tier system sure is complicated, as Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich points out in his latest blog.

It is hard not only to determine in which tier a brand belongs, but also how many tiers there are. It's too easy to limit the market to three tiers, says Ulrich. But sometimes it is necessary.

Tiers became a point of contention during the recent hearings held by the International Trade Commission (ITC), which centered on a United Steelworkers' petition asking for quotas on Chinese consumer tire imports.
