Cooper to boost capacity at Findlay plant
Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is investing an additional $10 million in its Findlay, Ohio, plant to add capacity via automation, cost improvements and retooling.
The plant "will play a key role in Cooper Tire's launch of several new light truck, SUV and premium winter tire products," says John Bodart, Cooper North American Tire manucturing vice president.
"Taken together, this expansion demonstrates the strong impact Findlay has on the company's strategic objectives of creating a sustainable, competitive cost position, achieving top-line profitable growth and building our organizational capabilities."
The Findlay plant can produce 15,400 light truck and 6,600 passenger tires per day at full capacity, according to Modern Tire Dealer research.
This year, Cooper has announced capacity increases and expansions of its plants in Tupelo, Miss., and Texarkana, Ark., as well as its joint ventures in Mexico and China.
