Titan still in talks to buy Europe ag tire biz

Titan International Inc. Chairman and CEO Morry Taylor says Titan is still in talks to buy certain assets of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s ag tire business in Europe, including a tire production plant in France.

Titan signed a letter of intent in late September 2009 to purchase the assets.

The non-binding agreement is subject to Goodyear Dunlop Tires France's completion of a "social plan related to consumer tire activity" at the Amiens, France, plant, "along with completion of due diligence, a definitive acquisition agreement and other standard acquisition approval requirements," Titan officials said at the time.

Titan acquired Goodyear's United States farm tire business several years ago.
