BBTS unveils Bridgestone truck tire at show

Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions (BBTS) unveiled a new Bridgestone brand steer tire, the R287A, earlier today, March 25, at the Mid-America Trucking Show.  The tire has already received SmartWay certification, say Bridgestone officials.

"The R287A is a refinement of a successful product, the R287 steer," says Chris Hoffman, manager, TBR & Retread Product Marketing, BBTS. "The new tire offers superior worn appearance and longer tread life. Engineers altered the Side Groove structure of the new R287A for enhanced appearance as the tire wears."

The Side Groove structure also acts as a "shock absorber" to prevent shoulder edge wear from spreading to the ribs. Other features include an enhanced cap/base compound for improved mileage, a shallow 16/32-inch tread depth for less tread squirm, a casing that incorporates four steel belts, and more.

The Mid-America Trucking Show, held in Louisville, Ky., runs March 25-27.
