First Parts Plus store opens in Puerto Rico

Posted on July 23, 2014

UniPiezas Alfredo Auto Parts Inc. commemorated the opening of the first Parts Plus-branded store in Puerto Rico with an open-house event and vintage car show that attracted more than 1,000 attendees and local TV coverage, according to Mike Lambert, president of the Automotive Distribution Network.

“The first Parts Plus store on the island looks fantastic, and the response from consumers on hand for the event was tremendous,” Lambert said.

“The Network anticipates 11 Parts Plus-identified stores and a distribution center in Puerto Rico over the next three to six months, from Bayamon to San Juan to Lajas.”

As part of the first jobber group in Puerto Rico to fly the Parts Plus banner, UniPiezas Alfredo hosted the event to showcase its more polished, professional image on a big stage, according to Tony Rivera, president of UniPiezas Alfredo.

“I’m so excited about becoming a part of the Parts Plus family that I wanted our customer base to feel the same enthusiasm,” he explained. “Joining Parts Plus changes everything for UniPiezas Alfredo – our store experience is much more inviting. The Network and Parts Plus are one of the best teams I’ve ever worked with.”

Operating under the brands of Parts Plus, Parts Plus Mexico, IAPA and Auto Pride, the Automotive Distribution Network says it is one of the largest, most diverse program groups in the industry.

Cost Pressures Will Likely Continue to Build

According to the results of our survey, demand for passenger and light truck replacement tires declined in March. Indeed, from a volume standpoint, the dealers reported they sold 0.8% fewer tires in March relative to the previous year’s period. The decline marks the third straight month of poor results versus the prior year’s period. However, on more a positive note, trends improved sequentially.
