ACDelco: green refrigerant, Optikleen in Ga.

Posted on August 11, 2014

ACDelco announced it is offering R-1234yf refrigerant, a new, environmentally friendly air-conditioning refrigerant that keeps vehicle interiors cool and has a 99.7% lower global warming potential (GWP) than R-134a.

The new ACDelco refrigerant is sold in 4.5 kg. containers (P/N 19260234) and is available for use in certain GM models starting with the 2013 Cadillac XTS and the 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV. Other OEMs have also begun using R-1234yf refrigerant, notes ACDelco.

ACDelco says always refer to the underhood refrigerant label to confirm the actual refrigerant used in the vehicle. Use of R-1234yf refrigerant in GM models requires special equipment for setup and usage:

ACDelco also announced that its Optikleen windshield washer cleaner is now available in the state of Georgia, now that the state has relaxed its volatile organic compound (VOC) rules and elected to follow the federal government’s standard.

Instructions for mixing in unrestricted states are:

Summer use: Mix 4 fluid oz. of Optikleen with 48 fluid oz. of water.

For winter use, use these formulas:

Protects degrees F/C

7 fl. oz.

57 fluid oz.

ACDelco recommends using distilled or deionized water.

Optikleen can be ordered via ACDelco EPIC. For mixing instructions in restricted areas in California, Arizona and Texas, visit
