American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) will replace retiring CEO William "Bill" Berry with Stuart Schuette, a veteran of one of the largest food service distributors in America.

ATD's new CEO, Stuart Schuette, joins the tire distributor after the proposed merger of his former employer, US Foods, with Sysco was halted by a federal judge.
Schuette will join ATD as CEO Jan. 4, 2016. Schuette most recently served as the chief operating officer (COO) of US Foods Inc., the second largest food service distribution company in America with more than $23 billion in annual revenue and approximately 24,000 employees.

US Foods offers more than 350,000 nationally branded products along with its own exclusively branded items across multiple food and non-food categories. In his role as COO, Schuette oversaw the operational and administrative functions across more than 60 locations servicing more than 250,000 customers nationwide.

“I look forward to leading the American Tire Distributors team and building on the strong record of performance they have achieved under Bill Berry’s leadership,” says Schuette. “ATD’s focus on operational excellence in serving its customers across the U.S. and Canada has established a firm foundation for the business. My goal will be to drive the innovation necessary to continue to grow the business and exceed our customers’ expectations."

During Schuette’s 20-year career at US Foods, he held a variety of executive sales, finance and operations positions and, most recently, was critically involved in the transformation of the US Foods brand, sales and functional organization.

Prior to joining US Foods, Schuette was an executive at Martin Brower, a subsidiary of Reyes Holdings LLC, and the world’s largest distributor of products to more than 8,400 McDonald’s restaurants. Schuette began his career at Arthur Andersen in Chicago. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and business administration from Illinois State University.

Berry, ATD’s current CEO and president who announced his retirement earlier this year says, “Stuart’s broad experience and record of achievement in the food service distribution industry positions him well to lead ATD. I am proud of all that the ATD team has accomplished and am confident that Stuart will continue to grow the business and guide the company to future success."
