TBC's Midas Subsidiary Is Adding Franchisees and Growing Sales

Posted on December 14, 2015

TBC Corp.’s Midas International Corp. subsidiary has recruited 23 franchisees in the past six months and achieved 27 consecutive months of comparable store sales increases.

TBC says the multi-national brand, which started out as a muffler specialist in the mid-1950s and became the first nationwide brake-service provider in the 1970s, is now a multi-service car-care provider with over 2,000 shops in 13 countries.

With a major focus on tires in recent years, Midas is exceeding growth targets by opening new stores with three different constituents—entrepreneurs that are new to the auto industry; independent automotive/tire stores that convert to Midas; and existing franchisees that are opening up additional locations and building new ones.

The company says recent recruits include Roger Wallin who retired early from his 24-year management position at Toyota to open a Midas store in Georgetown, Ky. Since joining the brand in July 2014, Wallin’s team has received a year-to-date 96.1 percent customer satisfaction score, as gauged by Zoop Mobility Network Inc. and Direct Opinions, an independent research organization.

Wallin’s customer satisfaction scores put his shop in the top 10 for service excellence among Midas’s 1,279 locations in the United States and Canada, according to TBC.

“I’d always dreamed of owning my own business and as early retirement became a possibility, I talked with several car-care companies,” said Wallin. “I chose Midas because of its reputation and the commitment the Midas folks made to support me as a franchisee.  I appreciate the guidance the Midas Operations team has provided, particularly with the renovation of my building.”

Midas is a customer and franchisee-focused organization that offers people an opportunity to open a business of their own without being on their own, according to Midas Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Mike Gould.

“We have a lot to offer folks looking to build their business by teaming up with us -- a thriving brand, an attractive package of financial incentives and a very exciting business opportunity. This is a great time to join the Midas family.”
