ASE Names New Leadership for 2017

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has named four officers to its board of directors and elected two people to its board of governors.

The new directors and their positions are:

  • Jeff Walker, owner of Walker Automotive Service in Pleasantville, N.J., chairman;
  • Ted Hayes, owner, Hayes Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Lawrenceville, Ga., vice chair;
  • Tom Trisdale, general manager, customer quality services, Toyota Motor North America in Torrance, Calif., treasurer; and
  • Bobby Bassett, manager of training automotive Aftermarket, North America, Gates Corp. in Ridgeland, Miss., secretary.

Mike Durkin, general director, retail dealer channel, GM customer care and aftersales in Grand Blanc, Mich., serves as past chair.

Joining the ASE board of governors for 2017 are Paul Mathias, western area technical training manager, Nissan in Ontario, Calif., and Roger Mesiemore, director of service and collision operations, Hendrick Automotive Group in Charlotte, N.C.

“The leadership of the ASE board is vital to ensuring that ASE keeps pace with our changing industry. We are grateful for the commitment of ASE’s all-volunteer board, and the ongoing support of ASE’s mission by the companies that encourage such talented people to work through ASE for the betterment of our entire industry."

ASE was established in 1972 as a non-profit organization to help improve the quality of automotive service and repair through the voluntary testing and certification of automotive professionals.

Today, there are approximately 300,000 ASE certified professionals working in dealerships, independent shops, collision repair shops, auto parts stores, fleets, schools and colleges throughout the country.

The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) of the 2011-2017 Chevy Cruze uses the instrument panel cluster (IPC), body control module (BCM), four radio frequency transmitting pressure sensors, and the serial data circuit to perform the TPMS relearn mode functions. The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) of the 2011-2017 Hyundai Elantra, 2014 Elantra Coupe and 2009-2012 Elantra Touring monitors the air pressure in the four road tires with wheel-mounted tire pressure sensors. To do this, the system uses a receiver, four radio frequency (RF) tire pressure sensors, two warning indicators on the instrument cluster, and a data circuit to perform system functions.
