Here's the Latest Info on the Truck, Retreading and Farm Tire Markets

Posted on January 18, 2017

How many truck tires were exported from China to the U.S. last year? How did that affect the number of truck tires retreaded domestically?

The market share of the top three replacement truck tire brands is 43.5%. Who is No. 1? And is it just our imagination, or are there more Chinese-made brands on the market share list this year than in past years?

Answers to those questions can be found in the 2017 January Facts Issue in the two-page Commercial section. Some of the other topics include:

* a break down of the U.S. retreading market in 2016, including market share (Bandag remains on top).

* farm tire market share, both replacement and original equipment.

* an in-depth look at the commercial tire distribution channel.

The distribution channel chart, on page 34, is a first for our Facts Issue. The information was provided by MacKay & Co. (www.mackayco.com), which is known for its comprehensive business information research covering the commercial trucking, construction equipment and agricultural machinery markets.

Want to see all the numbers but can't wait for the issue to arrive? The digital edition of the issue is already on our website, www.moderntiredealer.com.

Every year, the January Facts Issue is the first publication with an in-depth performance report on the tire industry from the previous year. For more information on the tire industry in 2016, visit these links:

Many of us make it a point to see our doctor for regular checkups. Doing so gives the physician the opportunity to assess the current condition of our health, and gives us a chance to ask questions about medical issues or concerns. A thorough exam can help to diagnose early symptoms and gives the doctor an opportunity to offer recommendations and advice for a healthier lifestyle.
