Here's the Latest Info on the Truck, Retreading and Farm Tire Markets

Posted on January 18, 2017

How many truck tires were exported from China to the U.S. last year? How did that affect the number of truck tires retreaded domestically?

The market share of the top three replacement truck tire brands is 43.5%. Who is No. 1? And is it just our imagination, or are there more Chinese-made brands on the market share list this year than in past years?

Answers to those questions can be found in the 2017 January Facts Issue in the two-page Commercial section. Some of the other topics include:

* a break down of the U.S. retreading market in 2016, including market share (Bandag remains on top).

* farm tire market share, both replacement and original equipment.

* an in-depth look at the commercial tire distribution channel.

The distribution channel chart, on page 34, is a first for our Facts Issue. The information was provided by MacKay & Co. (, which is known for its comprehensive business information research covering the commercial trucking, construction equipment and agricultural machinery markets.
