The RMA projects overall U.S. tire shipments will increase by 1.4 million units in 2017, a slight increase of 0.4%. Here are the rounded numbers (the percent change may indicate an increase even though the numbers appear the same):

RMA 2017 projected tire shipments (in millions)

OE 2016 2017 % change

Passenger 49.3 50.1 +1.5%

Light truck 4.9 4.9 +0.5%
