“We’ve enjoyed a tremendous amount of success in the H & V category with products like the Avid Ascend and Avid ENVigor,” says Andrew Briggs, vice president of marketing for Yokohama. Briggs says the Avid Ascend GT "represents a significant step forward in terms of all-season handling, without sacrificing mileage or comfort.”

Among the tire's benefits are:

  • shorter wet braking. An all-new asymmetric tread design with a unique circumferential groove arrangement provides stopping power and enhanced handling on wet roads.
  • snow braking. Hundreds of 3D sipes and a notched block design result in performance for both snow braking and handling.
  • longer treadlife. Yokohama’s newly engineered TriBlend compound and an ultra-square contact patch produce long, even wear and high-speed stability.
  • a much quieter ride. A multi-pitch tread block variation and adaptive outside shoulder blocks combat uneven wear for a quieter ride throughout the life of the tire.

The Ascend GT is available in 50 H- and V-rated sizes. It's designed for luxury sports sedans and coupes, along with mainstream passenger cars, and is available in sizes for 15- to 20-inch wheels. The tire comes with a 65,000-mile tread life warranty on all sizes.
