Maine Industrial Tire will close plant in Gorham
In an effort to be more competitive, Maine Industrial Tire LLC is streamlining its global business operations. As part of the restructuring, the company will close its Gorham, Maine, manufacturing facility.
Production from Gorham will be consolidated into Maine Industrial Tire’s two remaining manufacturing facilities in Red Lion, Pa., and Xingtai, China. This transition is expected to take six months to complete.
The company also will be realigning its sales force, combining its Brawler and conventional sales forces to create a single point of contact for both conventional and specialty products. Maine Industrial Tire says it believes this new structure "better reflects the growing importance of the Brawler product line," and will improve customer service.
(Maine Industrial Tire maufactures and markets the MaineTire, MITL, ITL and Brawler solid industrial tire brands.)
"Not only will this result in a financially stronger company, by streamlining operations, Maine Tire will be able to provide customers with the same high quality, premium products at competitive prices."
Maine Industrial tire last restructured in July 2010 (see "Maine Industrial Tire realigns operations").
In a related move, Neil Ganz has joined Maine Industrial Tire as head of OEM and international development. He is also a board member of the company.
