'Aftermarket 101' is designed for new employees

The University of the Aftermarket will present its annual “Aftermarket 101” program at Federal-Mogul Corp. headquarters in Southfield, Mich., June 10-11, 2014. It is being offered in partnership with the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association.

The day-and-a-half program was specifically created for new employees in the automotive or heavy-duty aftermarket. It is designed to provide them with a better understanding of the industry, its structure and trends.

Specific topics include:

* Industry Basics, Channels and Terminology;

* History of the Aftermarket;

* Current State of the Aftermarket;

* The Global Aftermarket;

* Distribution: Structure and Trends;

* Service Dealer Challenges and Opportunities;

* Macro Trends: The Big Picture.

There also will be a field trip to visit a traditional warehouse distributor and store.

Participants will receive 1.2 credits toward completion of their Automotive Aftermarket Professional (AAP) or Master Automotive Aftermarket Professional (MAAP) designations.

The University of the Aftermarket is an educational alliance of the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association, the Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association and the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association. It provides business, management and leadership education to professionals in the motor vehicle aftermarket through online, custom, conference and partnership educational opportunities.

Through these programs, the University awards CEU credit that can be applied toward completion of the aftermarket’s AAP or MAAP designations.
