Bridgestone opens OTR tire plant in S.C.

Bridgestone Americas Inc.'s first giant radial OTR tire plant is officially up and running. Based in Aiken County, S.C., the 1.5 million-square-foot manufacturing facility produces various off-road radial tire products used to equip heavy haul trucks in mining and aggregates applications.

Hankook breaks ground on new plant in Tennessee

Tire dealers will be able to sell American-made Hankook passenger and light truck tires beginning in 2016. That is when the first phase of Hankook Tire America Corp.’s tire plant in Clarksville, Tenn., will be completed.

Apollo chooses Hungary for plant site

And the winner is: Hungary. In June, Apollo Tyres Ltd. had narrowed the location for its consumer and commercial tire plant to Hungary or Slovakia.

When Continental announced it was going to build a consumer tire plant in Sumter, S.C., Continental and General tire dealers couldn’t wait for the facility to be up and running. That was in 2011, when the company’s fill rates were, by all accounts, too low.

Pirelli celebrates 10-years in Rome, Ga.

Ten years ago today (August 14), Pirelli Tire North America began producing tires at 400,000-square-foot facility on a 127-acre tract of land in the Floyd County Industrial Park in Rome, Ga.

Phase one has yet to be completed, but Pirelli is already producing tires at its new, environmentally friendly plant in Mexico. As equipment is added, the material preparation, curing (in photo) and final inspection areas will be expanded. The plant covers more than 1.4 million square feet.

Nexen Tire Corp. says it wants to create “the value of tomorrow.” To do that, it is emphasizing research and development and increasing consumer tire capacity as quickly as possible.


Yokohama increases its radial OTR tire 'capacity'

Call it a win-win for both Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. and Shandong Xingda Tyre Co. Ltd. Under a joint agreement signed on Aug. 2, 2012, Yokohama will provide Shandong Xingda Tyre with technical support regarding radial OTR tires.
