Baja 500, Red Bull Global Rallycross on tap for Yokohama

Dirt will be flying as Yokohama Tire Corporation’s (YTC) motorsports teams tackle two tough races: the 46th annual Tecate SCORE Baja 500 desert duel, June 5-8 in Ensenada, Baja, Mexico, and the Red Bull Global Rallycross (GRC) competition at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas on June 7.

Essa will be driving the Essa Autosport BMW E46 M3 in Formula Drift this season.

Yokohama goes racing at Sebring and the Mint 400

From Florida to Nevada, Yokohama Tire Corporation’s (YTC) motorsports teams will be in action this week. YTC will be competing at the season opener of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama, March 13-14 at Sebring International Raceway, as well as the Mint 400, March 15 in Las Vegas.

Michael Essa captures the Formula Drift title

Yokohama Tire Corporation-sponsored Michael Essa is the king of Formula Drift – but it wasn’t easy. Essa, who drives on Yokohama’s newest ultra high-performance ADVAN Neova AD08 R tires, claimed the 2013 Formula D championship in front of a sellout-crowd during Saturday’s Round 7 “Title Fight” season finale at Irwindale Speedway in Southern California.

Yokohama to display new mining tires

Yokohama Tire Corporation (YTC) will display two new mining tires, the Y20 and the Y67, at the Bluefield Coal Show Sept. 11-13 in Bluefield, W.V.

SmartWay-verified truck tires must meet stringent low rolling resistance criteria. Tires run cooler and help reduce fuel consumption, which cuts costs for fleets.

Environmentally friendly truck tires

Reducing nitrogen oxide emissions and fuel use by 3% or more “relative to the best-selling new tires for line-haul Class 8 tractor trailers” is the goal of the Environmental Protection Agency’s voluntary SmartWay program. Lowering rolling resistance is the way tire manufacturers are meeting that goal.
