Goodyear and the Marines Collect Toys for Tots

Three of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.’s airship bases will host public events and give away rides on a Goodyear blimp during a campaign to collect toys for the Toys for Tots Foundation.

Goodyear donates blimp gondola to museum

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is donating the gondola, the space underneath the blimp where the pilot and passengers ride, from the Spirit of Goodyear blimp to the Crawford Auto Aviation Museum of the Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland.

More than 2,000 people recorded the launching of the newest Goodyear blimp, Wingfoot One, on their cameras, smartphones, tablets and video cameras.

Wingfoot One takes flight

More than 2,000 people witnessed the christening of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.’s newest blimp, Wingfoot One, last month. Richard Kramer, Goodyear chairman and chief executive officer, said the brand equity built by the airship helps the company sell tires around the globe. “It is invaluable, irreplaceable and one of a kind.”

Charlotte White, 76, of Akron, Ohio, provided the winning submission for Goodyear's Name the Blimp Contest. Wingfoot One will be the name of the new Goodyear Blimp and White's winning submission earned her a day of activities with the Goodyear Blimp.

New Goodyear airship named ‘Wingfoot One’

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. announced that Wingfoot One is the name of the company’s newest airship, a semi-rigid, Zeppelin model LZ N07-101 assembled at Goodyear’s Wingfoot Lake airship hangar and unveiled in March, 2014.

The blimp features a new paint scheme while retaining Goodyear’s logo, and traditional blue and yellow branding on a silver envelope. 

Goodyear unveils blimp with no name!

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. unveiled a new, state-of-the-art version of its world-famous icon, the Goodyear Blimp, at the Wingfoot Lake Hangar in Suffield, Ohio. Goodyear associates and dealers were in attendance.

The Spirit of Goodyear blimp will give up its spot in the Wingfoot Lake Hangar near Akron, Ohio, for the new Goodyear New Technology blimp.

‘Spirit of Goodyear’ will retire in Florida

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.’s Akron-based blimp, the Spirit of Goodyear, which has been based at the company’s Wingfoot Lake Hangar since its christening 13 years ago, will join The Spirit of Innovation and operate from the company’s Pompano Beach, Fla. airship base this winter before being decommissioned in the spring of 2014.


Goodyear and the marines collect toys for tots

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and the United States Marine Corps Reserve will conduct their third annual joint maneuver to benefit the Toys for Tots Foundation at Goodyear's blimp base in Suffield, Ohio.


Fitzhenry named Goodyear’s communications VP

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has selected Paul Fitzhenry as senior vice president of global communications, effective Oct. 8, 2012. Fitzhenry will report to Richard Kramer, Goodyear’s chairman, president and chief executive officer.
