A thrilling Italian Grand Prix at Mugello last weekend saw Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez continue his winning-streak to six races, although by the barest of margins over Movistar Yamaha MotoGP’s Jorge Lorenzo who battled the regining champion right to the finish line. Celebrating his three-hundredth Grand Prix, Movistar Yamaha MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi enjoyed a rostrum finish by placing third at his home race.

Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez was quickest on a rain-interrupted Friday at Mugello, setting a time of 1'48.004 in the dry Free Practice One session, before intermittent rain prevented any riders improving their times in the afternoon Free Practice Two session.

Rossi returns home for Italian Grand Prix

Movistar Yamaha MotoGP returns to Italy for Valentino Rossi’s first home race of the year, the Gran Premio d’Italia this Sunday at the Mugello circuit in Tuscany. The race is also a home Grand Prix for the team itself, being based alongside the historic Monza circuit in Gerno di Lesmo.

Marc Marques and Andrea Dovizioso are two of the top riders who will contest for victory at Mugello.
