"If it's a sneak peek of the two new Firestone Destination tires, why don't you have pictures of them?" That's what Joy Kopcha, Modern Tire Dealer's senior editor, said to me when I wrote last week's blog. At the time, I told her the sneak peek was meant figuratively, because I hadn't even seen the tires yet, but had some early information about them.

Well, here are the literal peeks at the Destination A/T2 and X/T, which won't be available until August.

First the Destination A/T2. Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC refers to this tire as an "all-weather, all-terrain truck and SUV tire." When you read "truck," think smaller pickup truck. It is designed for the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, Dodge Ram 1500, Chevy Tahoe and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The A/T2 will be available in 28 S- and T-rated sizes, broken out as follows:

15-inch (1): P235/75R15.

16-inch (8): ranging from P225/75R16 to P265/70R16.

17-inch (11): ranging from P235/75R17 to P265/65R17.

18-inches (6): ranging from 255/70R18 to P265/60R18.

20-inches (2): P275/60R20 and 275/55R20.

There is also one 22-inch H-rated metric size: 285/45R22.

Bridgestone backs the X/T with a 50,000-mile warranty.

Second, the Destination X./T. Bridgestone refers to this tire an "all-weather, all-terrain light truck and SUV tire." It is designed for the Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-250, Ford F-350, GMC Sierra and Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.

The X/T will be available in 25 R-, S- and T-rated sizes, broken out as follows:

15-inches (4): ranging from 30x9.50R15LT to 35x12.50R15LT.

16-inches (6): ranging from LT215/85R16 to LT285/75R16.

17-inches (7): ranging from LT235/80R17 to LT315/70R17.

18-inches (4): ranging from 35x12.50R18LT to LT275/65R18.

20-inches (4): ranging from 35x12.50R20LT to LT285/60R20.

With a combined 54 sizes, the A/T2 and X/T eventually will replace the Destination A/T, which was available in 48 P-metric and LT sizes.

Target vehicles for the M/T 2 are the Toyota Tacoma TRD, Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Rubicon.

With the additions, the Firestone Destination replacement line is almost complete. The M/T 2, the company's "  maxium traction" tire for trucks and SUVs, was introduced in 2017. The LE2, for "over-the-highway use for trucks and SUVs," will be replaced in 2020.
