Three months ago, Michelin North America Inc. filed suit against two companies. It claimed patent infringement against the Michelin Latitude Tour tread design. That lawsuit has been settled.
Michelin said it has reached favorable settlement agreements with Atturo Tire Corp. and Svizz-One Corp. Ltd. regarding its patent infringement suit filed on May 13 in U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina in Greenville, S.C.
The Michelin suit alleged Atturo and Svizz-One infringed design patent U.S. D483,322 covering the Latitude Tour tread design.
The parties agreed that the specific terms of the settlement shall remain confidential.
"We are pleased with this litigation settlement," said Scott Clark, Michelin North America's chief operating officer. "In addition to recognizing the hard work of our employees, Michelin's patents represent our company's commitment to providing quality products to our customers."
In an official statement of its own, Atturo was pleased to bring the dispute to a close without the need for prolonged litigation.
“Atturo Tire Corp. reached a favorable settlement agreement with Michelin North America Inc. that resolves litigation between the parties relating to the AZ600 tire, which was sourced by Atturo from a manufacturing partner,” said the company. “The confidential settlement resulted in dismissal of the case shortly after it was filed without any admission of infringement by Atturo.”
