Titan International Inc. is moving wheel production from its Saltville, Va. facility to Quincy, Ill., the headquarters for the company's North American wheel division.

The company says the move is to "take advantage of production capacities." Titan says it remains committed to the mining industry.

"We're consolidating production in order to more effectively serve our key mining customers, providing them the innovative wheel solutions they've come to depend on," says Paul Reitz, CEO and president of Titan. "During this transition, our customer service and support teams are committed to ensuring that our customers experience minimal service or production interruptions. As the mining market returns, Titan will evaluate moving production back to the Saltville, Virginia facility."

A company spokesman tells Modern Tire Dealer "production will move in phases throughout 2017."
