The European subsidiary of Bridgestone Corp. is acquiring a chain of 104 stores in France.
Bridgestone Europe says it has entered into an exclusivity agreement with the shareholders of Groupe Ayme to acquire the group's 104 points of sale which operate under the “Côté Route” brand. Bridgestone says Groupe Ayme is "the largest independent tyre specialist in France."
The finalization of the transaction is subject to information and consultations with the social partners as well as competition authority clearance.
Bridgestone says the acquisition will support its retail effort to become "the most trusted provider of tire and automotive services in every business segment it serves."
The company also says the acquisition will help it get closer to the market and better understand consumers so it can continue to boost its position in the market.
With the Groupe Ayme acquisition, Bridgestone's European retail network will grow to more than 900 points of sale, operating under the First Stop, Speedy and Côté Route brands.
