Federal Corp.'s Chungli, Taiwan, consumer tire factory was involved in a fire on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017. There were no casualties, and the production facilities were unaffected, says a company spokesperson.

However, the fire (see photo) caused partial warehouse damages. As a result, operations at the factory have been halted "for inspection and reinforcement." The Chungli plant is Federal's primary manufacturing site.

"As employee safety and product quality are our foremost priority, inspections of the facility and recovery projects are currently ongoing."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the local fire department and insurance company. Federal estimates passenger and light truck tire production will resume in early February.

"Federal greatly appreciates all our clients' patience and understanding on any information delay. Our IT system is fully operational since the next day of the fire.

"Please rest assured that Federal will strive to ensure smooth delivery of all orders. Should you have any question or concern, please contact Federal's sales representative."

Production at Federal's new tire plant in Guanyin, Taiwan, is scheduled to begin in February 2017.
