The first Optima Batteries Search for the Ultimate Street Car events in 2017 kicked off at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this past weekend.

With it came the debut of the new AZENIS RT615K+ performance tire, and multiple podium positions for Falken Tires.

In GT Vintage class, the top three GT Vintage class drivers all finished on Falkens. John Lazorack III (1st), Efrain Diaz (2nd), and Chad Ryker (3rd) grabbed the top three spots.

Mike Maier won his GT class round—a first for a Mustang—on the debut of his new 2017 Ford Mustang outfitted with Falken Tires.

Jake Rozelle took home second place in the GTS class during his first time behind the wheel of his recently finished ’03 Corvette Z06.

Craig Johnson took home the Spirit of the Year award, giving him an automatic entry into the Optima Batteries Ultimate Street Car Invitational event at SEMA this year.

In all, 16 drivers were competing on Falken Tires for Round One of the points-based events that have drivers participating in autocross, speed stop, design and engineering, road rally, and road course.

There are seven more Ultimate Street Car Challenge events in 2017, and you can find their locations at

“The first Optima Batteries Search for the Ultimate Street Car event was a hit, and Falken Tires is excited to be sponsoring the series again this year. We couldn’t ask for a better venue to debut our new RT615K+ performance tires. Seeing them up on podium tells us that we’re putting together a winning tire for enthusiast drivers,” pointed out Jonathon Bradford, Manager, Motorsports & Events.

This year there is a new schedule configuration that runs the autocross, design and engineering, and the road rally competitions on Saturday, while the Falken Tires road course event and speed stop are done on Sunday. Round One at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway was the first event to adhere to this new schedule. Falken Tires is the title sponsor of the Road Course and retains naming rights.
