Hankook Tire America Corp. has named a new president. Hosung Suh will assume the top role on July 1. He replaces Hee-se Ahn, who had led Hankook in the U.S. since January 2015. Suh has served as senior vice president of Hankook's global corporate strategy planning division, and the company credits him with leading innovative changes. He has experience with other companies working in both the U.S. and Korea.
He has worked for the financial companies of Hyundai Motor Group, including life insurance, investment securities, credit card and auto financing. Suh held key positions, including chief strategy officer, chief financial officer, chief marketing officer and chief operating officer. He also worked at Bain & Co., a global strategy consulting firm.
Hankook says Suh's strategic planning experience will help him "grow Hankook Tire’s presence in the American market."
“The United States market is very important to Hankook Tire,” Suh says. “I am excited to join our outstanding team to achieve the company’s goals in this region.”
The company says with Suh, "Hankook is seeking a new start with the construction of its first North American plant in Clarksville, Tenn., and the recent move of its American headquarters to Nashville."
During Ahn’s tenure at Hankook in America, the company's sales grew 15% in the replacement tire market, and stronger original equipment relationships with automotive manufacturers were built. The company was named a General Motors Supplier of the Year for the first time in company history earlier this year.
