During a week-long event Tire Discounters Inc. locations in three states didn't charge customers labor on tires or oil changes, and instead collected donations for the Wounded Warrior Project. The first-time event raised more than $20,000. The company hosted its "Labor on Us" event Oct. 24-31 in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. Customers donated $9,140 that week, and Tire Discounters added a $1 donation for every social media share, phone call and appointment booked during the event. Combined, the event raised $20,631.
“The Labor Is on Us event was our way of saying thank you to all the men and women who keep us safe," said Jamie Ward, president. "We’re honored to donate over twenty thousand dollars to support Wounded Warrior Project on behalf of our customers and employees."
Tire Discounters employees used the event as a way to honor their coworkers, family members, friends and neighbors who have served in the military and set up patriotic displays.
The money raised will help Wounded Warrior Project provide programs and services for warriors, which include access to mental and physical health care, employment assistance, and education services.
“We employ many veterans. Giving back to the Wounded Warrior Project was a cause close to many of our hearts,” said Charles Curlee, a Marine Corps veteran and vice president of retail sales.
