Seventy-two percent of drivers who responded to a recent Hankook Tire America Corp. survey believe autonomous or electric vehicle technology will be the "most widely used" automotive innovation 10 years from now.

"Drivers also expect those same technologies to see the most development in the next 10 years," Hankook officials said yesterday, when results of the company's "Gauge Index Survey" were published.

Hankook also found that 49% of respondents anticipate that autonomous and electric vehicle innovation "will improve the most this coming decade. In third place, came driver assistance technology, such as lane-keeping assist and automatic parallel parking, further underscoring the growing expectation that technology will continue to impact the experience behind the wheel."

Hankook surveys drivers on a quarterly basis. The latest installment, conducted Oct. 31-Nov. 1, 2019, polled 1,302 randomly selected motorists, according to Hankook officials.
