Two Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. products, the Cooper Evolution M/T and the Cooper Discoverer ATT, have won the 2019 Good Design award from The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.
Engineered for off-road use, the Cooper Evolution M/T sports large blocks with alternating mud scoops that dig into loose dirt, sand and mud; wide trenches for mud removal; a specially designed sidewall with “climbers” that grab onto rocks, providing enhanced resistance to rubbing; and other features.
The Cooper Discoverer ATT “provides a quiet ride on urban roads while offering excellent off-road performance,” according to Cooper officials.
“The tire is a cross between a classic sport utility vehicle tire and an all-terrain tire,” says Sue Zhu, product director, Cooper Tire Asia. “It features an innovative groove shape and corrugated sipes that create a sound barrier that reduces road noise for a quieter ride, and it is equipped with features to eject stones and gravel for enhanced traction.”
The Good Design award recognizes innovative, cutting-edge industrial, product and graphic designs. It evalautes products based on design, new technologies, form, materials, construction, utility and other criteria.
“Earning Good Design awards is a testament to Cooper’s product design capabilities,” says Andrea Berryman, director, product management, North America, Cooper.
