Tire industry public relations and communications veteran Dan MacDonald has joined Modern Tire Dealer's team of contributors.

Starting with the May edition of MTD, MacDonald's monthly column, "Creating a Buzz," will provide PR, communications and marketing tips and best practices for independent tire dealers.

A former vice president of community and corporate relations for Bridgestone Americas Inc., MacDonald was instrumental in the development of the award-winning Bridgestone Teens Drive Smart program and helped lead the charge on many of the company's brand promotion and PR outreach efforts, including dealer communications initiatives.

Prior to joining Bridgestone, he spent nearly 20 years in broadcast journalism, working for CBS and ABC affiliates in a number of markets.

"Dan understands what dealers need to do in order to build their brands and communicate with customers in an effective, current way," says MTD Editor Mike Manges. "His insight will be invaluable to our readers."
