Team Falken earns top 10 north of the border

July 16, 2014

The Team Falken Porsche 911 RSR, driven by teammates Wolf Henzler and Bryan Sellers, placed eighth in GTLM in the latest round of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

Henzler qualified the Porsche in third, but tough competition from the class-winning Corvette team and additional GTLM entrants proved difficult to overcome in the two hour, 45-minute race. In addition, it had poured heavy showers in the morning warm-up session but was hot and dry by the afternoon race. Team Falken engineers had to work quickly to accommodate the drastic changes in weather.

“Bryan and I worked steadily all race, getting through traffic, and while the Porsche and our Falken tires worked flawlessly, we simply couldn’t get to the front,” Henzler acknowledged.

Nevertheless, Henzler credited the team with delivering a strong race car. “We’re continuing to strengthen our effort, and with our next race, the Brickyard Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, just two weeks away, I’m confident we’ll keep moving forward.”

Sellers echoed his teammate’s confidence. “The short two-week timeframe between races adds pressure, but honestly, it allows us to keep the momentum high as we head to Indy. I’m really excited for that race,” he added.

The next race on the Tudor United SportsCar Championship tour takes place July 24-25 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s 2.534-mile road course. The race duration again will be two hours and 45 minutes.
