Second day for Radar Tires at Crandon

Radar Tires earned a pair of top-10 finishes today in the Big House Brawl at Crandon International Off Road Raceway. For the second consecutive day, Radar Tires had two top-10 finishes.
 
Radar Tires used the LT265/75R16 and 32X11.50R15 Radar Renegade R5 tires at Crandon Off-Road International Raceway on Saturday and Sunday.
 
Cam Reimers, driver of the No. 21 SSI Decal/TiLube PRO Light, was on the cool-down lap during Sunday’s qualifying session when - approximately 50 feet after the start/finish line – he knocked the left rear corner off of his PRO Light truck after making contact with a concrete barrier. The chassis and suspension damage was so severe that he was unable to compete in the Sunday afternoon race.
 
In what would be an eerie repeat of Saturday’s two attempts to start the race, Sunday’s event needed three attempts at the land rush standing start that is unique to Crandon.
 
Luke Johnson, driver of the No. 14 Project648 Motorsports Nissan Frontier PRO Light, qualified sixth for the event. On the third attempt of the land rush-style start, Johnson dropped to 10th position but quickly passed two cars before reaching mid-track. By the second lap he was seventh and advanced to sixth on Lap 3. H was fifth on Lap 5 and moving forward until the last lap.
 
At the start of the final lap, Johnson began coasting and came to a stop just beyond the start/finish line. He was pulled off track but was able to get the truck restarted and finished ninth, his second top-10 finish this weekend.
 
Ian Harris qualified in the 20th position and lined up with the rest of the 22-truck field for the infamous Crandon start. Harris battled with the field en route to a 10th place finish, his second top-10 of the year.
 
“It was a tough day with Cam’s accident and Luke having the last lap issue, especially since he was on a tear and looked podium bound,” said Gary Blalock, Radar Tires Motorsports Manager. “Luke really drove hard today and his team has worked continuously since Bark River. He showed his and the Radar Renegade R5 tires' potential at the highest speed track that we run on all season. We still had two trucks in the top 10 and considering the action today, it is great to see both trucks are still in great shape. Cam’s incident was unfortunate and creates a lot of work for the team ahead of the next race at Bark River. Such is motorsport - sometimes your best efforts go unrewarded, but I am still proud of our teams and the Radar Tires. We had zero tire issues despite the abuse they receive. We’ll take what we learned this weekend and apply when we come back to race Labor Day weekend.”
 
Next up for Radar Tires in TORC competition is the Throwdown in the U.P. Part 2 at Bark River, Mich., on July 19-20.
