Falken Tire scores doubleheader victories

June 11, 2014

Team Falken, manufacturer of high performance on- and off-road tires, continues its winning ways with a first place in the Spec Trophy Truck Class in the demanding Tecate SCORE Baja 500 and two firsts in class in the West Coast Ultra4 Series, both run this past weekend.

Driving for the Brenthel  Industries team, Jonathon Brenthel, and his co-driver Jordan Brenthel, experienced the “most demanding course I’ve ever been through,” according to Jonathon, which had “absolutely every type of situation, with uphill siltbeds that were over three-feet deep that segued directly into two- to three-feet ‘whoops’ made of nothing but rocks, it was a tough experience

“All we got was one flat when we took out a large tree with the rear,” Jonathon continued.  “We were lucky we didn’t rip off the entire back of the truck, it hit so hard.  All in all, zero flats from rocks and other rough terrain, and tree-plus-one.”

Added co-driver Jordan:  “Since nearly all of the hill climbs were covered with so much silt, we simply held on, hit the gas and trusted our WildPeak M/T's to pull us to the top.”  The team ran Falken’s durable WildPeak M/T sized 37X12.50R17.

Falken continues to use the punishing backdrop of desert racing to test the capabilities of its WildPeak line of tires in order to provide consumers with the best product possible.

The WildPeaks also shined at the Ultra4 MetalCloak Stampede at Prairie City in Rancho Cordova, CA, the first race of the West Coast Ultra4 Series.  Though the technical and extremely difficult course served up considerable challenges to the Falken-shod teams in competition, two drivers managed to hold on and win their respective classes.

Jessi Combs, who is rapidly making headlines for herself, took first in the 4800 Legends Class, even after rolling her vehicle during practice.  She persevered and after winning the preliminary race, started from pole, winning her class in the main event.

VP Racing, competing in the 4600 Stock Class in its Jeep, earned a win for co-drivers Ben Varossa and Jacob Pacheco.  Also finishing on the podium in third in the 4600 Class was Bailey Cole in a Toyota.  Finally, Gerald Lee would finish second in the 4500 Mod Class in the main event.  Overall, Falken showed well by having a vehicle podium in three out of the four classes in the series.

An excited Combs acknowledged her win came from very trying circumstances:  “NorCal Rock Racing did a great job with the course.  Though tough at first, it became a lot of fun once we found the perfect combination of tire pressure and adapting my driving style to the course.”

As with desert racing, Falken uses all forms of off-road competition to improve its product line and the results from the weekend demonstrate the strength and responsiveness of its WildPeak tires.
