Good publicity, courtesy of Yokohama and Kumho

June 5, 2014

It seems like the tire industry is always blasted by the media. Here, however, is some good publicity.

Remember Donald Sterling, the voice behind those racist comments about African Americans? The soon-to-be former owner of the Los Angeles Clippers was properly dressed down for his comments, but not before plenty of overreaction by the National Basketball Association players and the media.

Yokohama Tire Corp and Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc., which have direct and indirect sponsorship deals with the Clippers, did not add to the problem. They handled their respective situations with aplomb.

What did they do, or, more appropriately, didn't they do? To find out, read Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich's latest blog, "Final thoughts on how Yokohama and Kumho handled the L.A. Clippers scandal."

How do you think the whole Sterling affair (figuratively, not literally, although both could apply) was handled? Read the blog, then let us know what you think by leaving a comment!
