Camaro decides to 'broaden' its tire offerings

July 2, 2001

The recent press release for the 2002 Chevrolet Camaro reveals a bigger-is-better tire philosophy.

On the Camaro Z28 Coupe and Convertible models with the V8 engine, size P245/50R16 Goodyear Eagle RSA all-season tires are standard. The Z-rated tires replace P235/55R16 Goodyear Eagle GA non-speed rated tires.

A P275/40ZR17 Goodyear Eagle F1 performance ultra-high performance tire with a painted aluminum wheel is optional with the SS Performance Appearance Package on Z28 models.

On the V6 Camaro Coupe and Convertible models, P235/55R16 touring tires, with painted 16-inch cast aluminum wheels, replace P215/55R16 tires with bolt-on wheel covers as standard equipment.

Goodyear tires accounted for 32% of General Motors Corp.'s original equipment tires last year, according to Modern Tire Dealer's 2001 Facts Issue.
