Continental AG and Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. have created a joint venture that "will bring their worldwide tire activities more closely together in the future," say Continental officials.
The venture will be set up in Japan by the end of 2001 with the goal of "bundling the joint activities of the two companies for the worldwide benefit of original equipment customers."
Continental also expects the deal to strengthen its Japanese replacement tire market share.
Details will be finalized by the end of the year "as well as to other cooperative agreements."
