Lawyers seek $1 billion from Bridgestone/Firestone

June 18, 2001

The Stuart, Fla.-based law firm of Gary, Williams, Parenti, Finney, Lewis, McManus, Watson & Sperando held a press conference this morning to say they have filed a $1 billion product liability lawsuit against Bridgestone/Firestone (BFS) Inc.

Their company specializes in suing large corporations. Major lawsuits they have filed include a $240 million copyright infringement suit against Walt Disney last year and a $500 million suit against The Loewen Group in 1995.

The BFS lawsuit claims Firestone Wilderness AT tread separations caused a May 2000 Ford Explorer roll-over that killed a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., couple and injured members of their family who were riding in the vehicle.
