Subaru chooses Dunlop tires for two sport sedans

March 20, 2014

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. announced that Subaru’s newest high-performance sport sedans, the 2015 WRX and WRX STI, will roll exclusively on Dunlop Sport Maxx RT tires.

The Sport Maxx RT, which stands for “racing technology,” was developed to deliver enhanced performance on the street through the integration of race-inspired design elements. The tires outfit the 2015 Subaru WRX in size 235/45R17. The WRX STI is equipped with 18-inch wheels and 245/40R18 Sport Maxx RT tires.

The tire’s race-derived features include:

* adaptive tread compound that helps deliver race-like grip and improved braking performance;

* massive outer shoulder blocks that promote increased stability and handling when cornering;

* power braking blocks that help enhance stopping power for shorter braking distance at high speeds; and

* low-weight construction that lowers rolling resistance for better performance.

“With the Sport Maxx RT, we’ve incorporated technologies developed from Dunlop’s racing program for both exceptional grip and braking performance,” says Tara Foote, Dunlop brand manager.

“Subaru’s choice of the Sport Maxx RT for its flagship high-performance vehicles is further evidence of this performance.”
